Anay Ortega - New CP Missionary to Guatemala
Miss Anay Ortega has accepted the call to be the clinic administrator of the CP medical clinic located in San Lucas, Guatemala. Anay is a member of Andes Presbytery (Colombia, South America) and has years of experience working in administration. She is a church elder and has held many positions of church and presbytery leadership over the years. She has also attended seminary in Medellin, Colombia and has a seminary certificate. The Missions Ministry Team is helping Anay raise support as a missionary and once she has her support and visa to work in Guatemala, she will be deployed as a missionary. When Anay is established in Guatemala we hope to provide opportunities to CP churches and individuals to work at the clinic and orphanage as short-term missionaries.
The Guatemala medical clinic has been a ministry of the CP Church for several years. Over the past few years the Cumberland Presbyterian Church built the medical clinic in San Lucas, Guatemala on the property of the Casa Shalom orphanage. Several work teams participated in the construction of the clinic. The CP Church became involved in the clinic project as a result of Wendy Skinner who worked at the orphanage as a missionary nurse. She resigned her position and returned to the USA in 2008. The Missions Ministry Team has developed a new long-range plan for the medical clinic. Part of the plan involves putting a Cumberland Presbyterian missionary at the clinic to administer the services of the clinic. The clinic is to serve the children in the orphanage and families located around the clinic. The dream is to eventually expand out from the medical ministry and initiate Cumberland Presbyterian new church development in Guatemala.

This lady worked with us last July, when I went with the youth team led by Lynn & Nona Thomas. She has a heart for mission work, and I intend to support her in some way. This e-mail is especially for the people who went with me to work at the clinic, but also for others who would like to help support this lady. We have a vested interest in the clinic and I believe the ministry of the clinic will expand with Anay as its leader. Please let me know if you will join me so we can make a regular donation for her support. yiC Sam
